Love Me. Hudson River Park Pier view of the New York City skline. West Village.
Under cover of darkness, the city lights flicker: stars and skyscraper constellations in a vast urban universe.
And when the night squints, small evocations come into focus: plaintive pleas and heart fluttering statements released into the city’s collective mind.

I’ve been on a high since the Chromatics concert last month. Ever since then, my listening choices have frequently revolved around the Italians Do It Better family, or songs that fit in nicely with that family. This works best at night on the commute to and from wherever it is you may find yourself going (hopefully a place with strong drinks, a dance floor, good company).

From 10 Inflammatory Essays by Jenny Holzer

  1. I went to the member’s preview of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago’s latest exhibition, This Will Have Been: Art, Love & Politics in the 1980s. It was great to see some of Holzer’s work in person, rather than just seeing it on my small laptop screen.
  2. It’s interesting to consider which essays are readily accessible online. The above two were my some of my favorites, and they were a quick Google search away. The things that stuck out to me clearly stuck out to other people. Can certain ideas and questions and challenges be more universal than others? Or is it merely a matter of one’s desire to gravitate toward ideas that are more familiar and less threatening?
